MD/DE State Line
Nice weather on Sunday. Temperature was a bit over 70°F in the afternoon. Went out with my parents along US-40 towards Maryland. Found 15 geocaches on both sides of the state line from Bear to Elkton and had a pretty good day, all in all. Ran into some really nice people in the Glasgow area. One lady in particular started up a conversation with us and offered tips on places to go when she found out that we were moving to the area. She even invited us to her home, which was near the park, for tea, but we declined because we had to continue onwards to Elkton. I'm not accustomed to such hospitality but it's certainly different from Northern NJ. Found two of the Maryland Municipal League Geotrail caches. I don't think I'll be traveling all over Maryland to qualify for the special geocoin just yet so I'll do these caches as individual caches whenever I come across them. ( The caches... ) |

It is getting close to that time of the year where I can do one of the things I enjoy the most doing during the holidays. There is just something about this merry time of year when my evil nature comes out, and literally reek havoc upon the world. ( Cut to contain the evil.... ) Current Mood: naughty |

This sucks...
I have benjimouse furious with me. He's upset because he wants me to do specific actions but I for other reasons chose an alternative. Its really frustrating because he's taking everything personally. I'm not ignoring him to be a jerk in any shape or form, instead I'm making independent decisions so that I can rely on myself. He was mad at me to the point of belittling on Friday as well and I broke down because I really thought that he was just going to walk out the door and just leave me there alone. He's become my closest substitute for what I had with Aaron so I was extremely afraid I was to have a repeat of what happened in July. -- John O. |

I just thought of something when I saw a Simpsons video on youtube, why dose homer's face always look as if he needs a shave? I mean don't get me wrong it's a funny cartoon I watch it too but I did notice that. Same thing with Fred flintstone. but then he's supposed to be a cave man so like he can look sort of like that maybe more. I wonder why house is on like it was last night on Thursdays but on Mondays too? I get a bit confused at times remembering when all the brand new ones will be on TV on fox cause they keep changing the time it's on. it's even on that USA TV network channel too but I can't get that channel at this time. but I see that on yahoo TV listings when there show on USA and on the TV guide channel listings too on TV that scroll past on the TV set when I use that channel to see what's on TV like when I'm not on line on my computer and stuff. I noticed some else over the years in some ways stuff I used to see on the flintstones when I was little makes me think of the old Jackie gleason show I dunno why. but somehow gleason's character Ralph and that cramden guy art carney played make me think of Fred and Barney's characters a bit on the old cartoons. gee I wonder who is that kazoo on the honeymooner's show :)? hehe I kid :) I mean remember the cartoon when Fred got a bowling ball for Wilma so he could use it? I can almost image that on the old honeymooners TV show, if they didn't allured actually do that on the show hehe. But I can't remember now if they did. The weather channel showed that misery movie Thursday night I think it was that I saw that on TV there. I remember back when I first herd of that and dad told me about it I think cause he was a big Steven king fan I guess I was too and he often, back then told me about the books he was reading. like pet cemetery and Christine and all the other ones Steven king had back then. my grandfather had a car like Christine when I was little. it was a nice car. on Today's walk I just walked to the store as usual cause I had to pick up the prescription I left there yesterday to be filled. I wanted to go somewhere else today on the walk like save a lot or aldi's and speedway for something different and so I could leave a coat at Ginnykitty's place I saved for them, but I needed to get that prescription at Kroger's and their the opposite direction in town from those places. I guess if I feel like I could go out again later today and do that stuff too going to Ginnykitty's and the superAmericaspeedway is maybe a few miles round trip or more. Save a lot and aldi's and speedway is about in the same area on the way back home from there. The only thing is I don't need as many food items now that I already went to the other food store to pick up my prescription at Kroger's. Where I got the food too while I was there. also Biglot's is in that area close to save a lot. today I just got a 12 pack of the bigk oh soda and a 78 cent cheese and macaroni dinner shaped like the wheels. on the cash register tape receipt it always calls those zapems. I also got a tomato for something different today. I saw a commercial I can't remember if it was last night now or the other night or what or when exactly for sure it was but I think it said the new House episode for this week on fox will be on Monday. I saw a episode of Bones too on fox the other day, it looked like they found a body in a bale of something like maybe either plywood or cardboard I'm not sure what it was but it was a bale of something they found it in on the show. I missed the end so I didn't find out what put them in there that way or who. |

Looking for roommates at Midwest FurFest
Anyone still looking for a room for Midwest FurFest? We've got a room at the Hampton Inn & Suites Lincolnshire. We have our own transportation so it's easy to get to the main hotel. So far it's just myself and Mistletoe. We could use two more people. :) Thanks! |

November is always a busy month
Livejournal must really be something as it's the only social-networking-type deal-ie I haven't abandoned flat-out. I had a twitter account for about a week before I got tired of it, had a facebook for a year before I didn't feel like figuring out the stupid front page anymore, I had a myspace but it was only to troll someone and I even had a Jott, which many of may not recognize as it was mostly what twitter is now. Just a random thought, really, nothing important. Also, apparently, if I don't log into LiveJournal I miss everything. I should probably tick the little box that says "remember my password". Life has been weird lately, my motivation has been dipping, diving, slipping, and shooting back up at random times throughout the day. Luckily, when I do get the motivation, I manage to get a shit-ton finished. It's just very disconcerting to be sitting around on a weekend and feeling as if I couldn't work up the motivation to lift my little finger and I blame this partially on my inability to self-motivate myself into action. Sure, I can reason with myself, see the error in what I'm doing, know that I should be working or going out but I just will not follow through. Not all is unhappy, though. I've been working 30hrs a week along with my classes and damn does it make a difference in my overall mood. Not having to worry about money is a real pick-me-upper (as if that weren't obvious). The surprising thing is my ability to work for 30 hours + go to class and still derive more personal gain than if I have no paid work but more time to do my class work. Maybe it's just me, but I think that it's BS what they told me when I came to college: "you shouldn't work while in college, focus on your studies". Looking forward to coming home soon too, the holidays make for a good break. I just wonder how long I'll have at home seeing as how my job doesn't allow me to have the entire month or so I get off of classes. I might push for 2 or 3 weeks since things will be slow and my co-worker probably wants the extra hours anyway as he needs the cash. I haven't been that active in the furry community around here; I'm living with a furry but him and I tend to have opposing schedules. Inc works in the evenings and on Saturdays. I work mornings to evenings and not on weekends so we tend to see one another only when I'm about to sleep. Then again, I never did get really active with the Ohio furries except for those few that I've met over the last 3 years, a couple of which I hardly ever see (to no fault of their own, I haven't made much of an effort.) Perhaps we should have an apartment party or something. If you've gotten this far then thanks for reading, I haven't made a big post in a while. That is really all for now, I'm kind of avoiding work right now :X ARTWHORING Oh, Yakitate had this done for us: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3012633/ARTWHORING Current Mood: procrastinating |

Job?
Panger mentioned there is an opening at his work for a parking valet. He works for an upscale hotel, so valets there make a killing in tips alone. I told him I was interested and asked if he could put in a good word for me. My best case scenario would be part time first shift or fill-in as needed, when traffic is heavy. The thing is, I love the freedom of not having to stick to a particular schedule. On the flip side, I do not have the internal discipline to maintain my own consistent schedule in the shop. Much of the fact I am behind in my work is self-created; the various interruptions aren't helping. As a result, my cash reserves deplete faster than I can replenish them. I have held off from getting a job for weeks now, my logic being that I have enough work in the shop to maintain a comfortable lifestyle. This would be true IF I kept at it, but I can't seem to work up enough self-generated mojo over a long-term basis. This continues to compromise my credibility with customers and the people I work with. Since I am on the verge of clearing my workload (three more projects and I am done with commissions), this will free me of commitments and allow me to get a gig that can help rebuild my savings while I get settled in to the new house and shop. Then I won't have to rely on projects as I continue rebuilding my life. I feel good about this path. Confidence is building. |

One other annoying thing I forgot to post last night. My new cell phone has a push-button volume control on the side. I frequently touch that button when I pull it out of my pocket, sometimes turning the volume lower, without realizing it. Over the last few days my ringer has been getting quieter, so I keep missing calls because I couldn't hear them. It's been quite annoying to flip open my phone to discover I'd already missed two or three important calls. It's probably even more annoying to the caller because they needed something from me. |

First impressions of Left 4 Dead 2: The demo is buggy and has some audio problems -- namely, my expensive 5.1-surround-sound-mimicking headphones are broadcasting in, essentially, mono; the music stings predicting the specials are muted or entirely absent except in the case of the Boomers; and sometimes entirely wrong information about where an approaching monster was located was being sent (sound comes from directly above character, or a distance in front of character; monster comes from a distance behind). In a game where your reaction time depends on your hearing and correctly locating approaching gray death, this is bad. Some of the emotes for the characters don't (yet?) work (notably the newly-added "I'll save you!"), but that's not a major issue. ( Wall of text in 3...2...1.... )I love the graffiti ("Would someone please hide the pens?!?"). There's not a lot of dialogue in the demo, but it sounds like there's a lot of potential for Teh Funny ("Ever eat horse?"). However, the thing that made me give up and buy the game (actually, buy the game for myself, the Cute Man, and two friends), was one of the usable items in the demo. A little ways into the first demo map, you encounter a jukebox, and, if you are adventurous and interact with it, it will flip in a new record (You can see this! So cool!) and play a random song. Usually, it will play jazz ("When The Saints Come Marching In" was popular last night), but once, just once, when we hit the jukebox it started playing Jonathan Coulton's Re: Your Brains. And the game was sold. Right then and there. |

Now this has been online since Friday, and those who knew how to search for it already found it, but now it's also officially out: Disneyland Halloween 2009! Again, thanks a lot to Timduru for making this possible, and to all his helpers who did an awesome job at coordinating everything! And even if it's unlikely that they'll read it, a BIG thanks to Disneyland for the wonderful welcome. So here it is, powered by Stroopwafels and Monster Energy Drink: Disneyland Halloween 2009! Next up: Meerkat Manor Dance 8, followed by Road Trip 2009 and CFD 3/4 :) Current Mood: busy |

Stuff...
A lot of stuff has been happening. Mostly good stuff: We got to see the inside of the house this weekend. I helped Diesel clear out the top floors of the previous tenant's trash. I arranged for electric to be turned on by Monday with gas soon after. We're hoping to get in asap and keep working on the place as we reside there. The days march by on getting in to the new shop. Fox and Teddy have been doing most (read: almost all) of the work in trade for rent. I got an idea to keep things equitable. Panger and Fire Lupine will NOT be going to MFF. Why is this filed under good stuff? Because MFF would have served as a distraction in this crittical moment of getting our lives back together. They made the wise and mature decision to go to their previous homes that weekend instead to retrieve the remainder of their belongings. Weather's been fantastic, very unexpected for November. I successfully shipped out an order yesterday, made a little bit of money. Got another one going out in two days. Had a good dinner out at Chili's with Firefoxbc and Fire Lupine last night. I am starting to wake up on my own around 7am. Some bad stuff The house from hell is kicking my ass, despite the fact that Fox and Teddy have spent more time and energy there. I am just not comfortable in that environment, being out of my element. *Dr. McCoy voice* Dammit Jim, I'm a woodworker, not a carpenter! I much rather pay cash for rent than work it off in this way. Somebody sideswiped my truck last night while it was parked, tearing off my drivers side mirror. I filed a police report because it may have been vandalism related. At some point during the cleanup, I must have bonked my camera in my pocket, breaking the LCD screen. This was the camera my mom got me for last Christmas. I am out of happy pills. I need to schedule an appt with a local shrink to get a refill. I tried the method of skipping some days to make them last longer, but those days made a chore out of merely existing. Speaking of pills, I am on day 40 of consistently taking one sleeping pill a night to help me get to sleep in time. I am so far behind on work because of all the distractions above. I am so looking forward to getting my life and psyche stable again, so I can get this train moving. I haven't been able to catch any of the movies out I've been wanting to see. So tired, will have to add more later... Overall, on balance, still good |

Remixing things up
When I bought my Dell Mini 9 netbook, it came with Dell's version of Ubuntu, which was majorly broken. I replaced the dinkey 16 Gig SSD that was the largest drive they offered with a cheap (relatively) 64 Gig SSD and installed the full version of Ubuntu. It was slower than the custom Dell version, but it worked correctly. I kept upgraded it a couple times until it was at 9.04. 9.10 came out recently, but rather than doing a simple upgrade, I decided to start from scratch and do things right. I wiped the SSD and installed the Netbook Remix version of Ubuntu. Only to find out there's a lot of stuff broken in it off the bat. The wireless didn't work at all and took a lot of Googling to fix. Getting it to see my Bluetooth mouse was much more difficult than it should have been. And then there's the interface. Ugh! By default, Netbook Remix uses a special Launcher application instead of the usual menu system. I'm not 5 years old, I don't need a screen full of icons the size of golf balls. Getting rid of the Launcher wasn't easy. Googling didn't help much, the "desktop-switcher" program I kept reading about wasn't anywhere to be found in Synaptic. I finally figured out that I could disable to Launcher in Startup Applications, then add the Main Menu to the menu bar. There's no easy method to switch back and forth between the normal Ubuntu interface and the toddler-friendly Netbook interface. Now I just need to reinstall all my usual software, install and configure all my Firefox extensions, set up my e-mail and IM accounts, copy over all my files.... Current Mood: aggravated |

Rainy day and a diner meet
It was a rainy Saturday so I stayed in and caught up on all the things I couldn't do while packing. I did two months' worth of accounting and got reasonably up to date with photo uploads. I also did a few more address changes online. In the evening, I went to the diner meet at Hot Plate. It was only 2 miles from home so I probably didn't have to leave home as early as I did. Met up with Industre and The Comedian outside the diner. The servers arranged a bunch of tables together for us in one section of the diner. Then we were joined by Lupine, Luna, Kinsasha, Reaux, Genji, Aisha, Dan, kitt3ns, and many others whose names slipped my mind. So it was quite a group. I had a Philly Pretzel Cheeseburger. After dinner, I opted not to go to the after-dinner party because I had to pick up some groceries at Pathmark and get home. It was a nice evening out and I look forward to more local gatherings. |

There are times when I think I should have blown off college and just gotten into a trade. I get more fulfillment out of a day swinging a sledge hammer, running a jack hammer, overhauling someones' overgrown bushes or doing framing work for pouring concrete than I do from most days at my job. Or perhaps the Good Lord is trying to beat me about the head and neck with a demolition bar to get my happy ass moving into a different job.
